Billy Graham Rapid Response Team’s Global Deployments, NCM and Convoy of Hope’s Ukrainian Aid, and NCF’s $21 Million Relief Donations

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team deployed teams of chaplains to various parts of the world in the last two weeks. One team deployed to Ukraine to work alongside its partner ministry Samaritan’s Purse in an emergency field hospital, where chaplains are offering comfort to families forced to flee their homes. Other teams traveled to Texas and Louisiana after Tornadoes ripped through the region. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has two stars and a “C” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 40.

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is partnering with Convoy of Hope to distribute Crisis Care Kits filled with first aid, toiletries, and other critical supplies to displaced Ukrainians. Last week, NCM President and Director Nell Becker Sweeden traveled to the Ukrainian border herself to help with relief efforts. NCM has five stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 90. NCM was also on MinistryWatch’s 2021 list of Shining Light Ministries. 

People who have Donor Advised Funds with the National Christian Foundation have collectively given $21 million to Ukraine relief efforts. As of March 22, the foundation says NCF donors had “recommended 2,438 grants to 574 charities working in and around Ukraine” for a total of more than $21 million. 

Mission Eurasia continues to distribute “I Care” food packages, with enough food to feed a family of five for a week, to Ukrainians. With the help of Schools Without Walls leaders and volunteers, teams have given out more than 11,000 food boxes. Mission Eurasia has two stars and an “A” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 95.

Lipscomb University, a Churches of Christ college in Nashville, Tennessee, inaugurated its 18th president Tuesday (March 29)—Candice McQueen, the school’s first female CEO. McQueen says she hopes to “be a role model to all students, but yes, to females who aspire to be leaders … to show them that it is possible. You can be a leader. You can carry your faith forward. You can be what you want to be.” Lipscomb University has one star and a “C” transparency grade in the MinistryWatch database, and a donor confidence score of 50.
