ONE YEAR AGO: On May 1 2024, MinistryWatch reported that Wayne Grudem, research professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary in Arizona, would retire from his teaching career. “The combination of my Parkinson’s disease, my prostate cancer and its treatments, and my 76 years of age all are combining, and the result is that I don’t have the energy that I have previously had,” he wrote in a letter. TWO YEARS AGO: On May 1, 2023, MinistryWatch reported that Bishop T.D. Jakes announced a 10-year, billion-dollar partnership with Wells Fargo to revitalize neighborhoods, foster economic opportunity, and create long-term change in communities in need across America. THREE YEARS AGO: On May 5, 2022, MinistryWatch reported that the federal Department of Education began investigating Liberty University’s handling of student reports of sexual assault. In a statement to ProPublica, the school pledged its “full cooperation” with the investigation. In March of last year, the Department of Education announced it had fined Liberty $14 million for “material and ongoing violations” of the Clery Act, “including with respect to its published crime statistics and treatment of sexual assault survivors.” Read more here.
